An Authentic Icelandic Adventure

Two hiking friends and I joined Einar for the Laugavegur trek in July 2021. It could not have been a better experience! Einer is the perfect guide, host, entertainer and chef. Einer has a tremendous amount of experience guiding and leading hikes through dynamic terrain: snow fields, stream crossings and geothermal areas, and we felt extraordinarily safe under his responsible watch and guidance. He was clearly familiar with the trek, having guided it with his own company and a previous company over 20 times, and was able to lead us through the highlights on the trail in addition to showing us some amazing sites off the beaten track. Einar was able to explain the geography and the flora of the land where he was raised, and his humor about the culture, the language and customs of his country kept us all chuckling on the trail. It truly was a feast in the wild too. Our small 9 person group ate better than any other group we saw at the huts. The meals that Einar turned out with limited accessibility to fresh food were simple amazing and a testament to his passion for delicious food and his commitment to feed his trekkers well.
Throughout the entire trip, my friends and I felt so fortunate to be a part of Einar's small group. As we passed large groups near the huts or huge masses of people departing cruise ships in town, it was clear that we were having the better, more authentic experience. I plan to return for another trip with Feast In The Wild!
